What’s the difference between Bronze, Silver, and Gold?
Bronze validates basic business information. Silver adds an SSIP (health and safety) assessment. Gold includes the full PAS 91 PQQ covering quality, environment, anti-slavery, financial stability, corporate governance, and social value—and is the level most major contractors require.
What is SSIP / Acclaim?
SSIP is the UK’s health and safety mutual recognition scheme. Constructionline’s in-house SSIP provider is Acclaim. Passing Acclaim is mandatory for achieving Constructionline Gold.
How long does it take to achieve Constructionline Gold?
Once your evidence is complete, most applications can be prepared and submitted within 10–14 working days. Final approval depends on assessor turnaround times, which typically range from a few days to two weeks.
Do I need Constructionline Gold to get on site?
It depends on the main contractor. Many Tier 1 contractors now mandate Constructionline Gold for all subcontractors before they can even tender for work or start on site.
Can I use my existing SSIP accreditation?
Yes. If you already hold a valid SSIP certificate from another provider (like CHAS or SMAS), you can use "Deem to Satisfy" to meet the health and safety part of Constructionline Gold without paying for Acclaim again.
What documents do I need for the Environmental section?
You typically need an Environmental Policy signed by a director. For Gold, you may also need evidence of how you manage waste (waste transfer notes) and reduce your carbon footprint.
Is Constructionline Gold an annual cost?
Yes. Constructionline charges an annual membership fee based on your turnover. Our consultancy fee is separate and covers the expert support to get your application approved.
Do I need a Quality Policy?
Yes. A quality policy statement is mandatory. You don't necessarily need full ISO 9001 certification, but you must demonstrate you have a system for managing quality and complaints.
What financial information is required?
You will need to provide your latest company accounts. Constructionline checks your financial stability to give buyers confidence that your business is secure.
What is the "Social Value" section?
This section asks how your business contributes to the community. Evidence can include local employment, apprenticeships, charitable giving, or volunteering. We can help you identify what counts.
What happens if my application is rejected?
It's common for first attempts to be returned with queries. We review the assessor's feedback, help you amend the documents or provide the missing evidence, and resubmit until approved.
Can sole traders get Constructionline Gold?
Yes. Sole traders can apply. The requirements for policies and evidence are proportionate to the size of your business (e.g., fewer than 5 employees).
Do I need Anti-Slavery and Equal Opportunity policies?
Yes. Constructionline Gold requires evidence of compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and the Equality Act. We provide compliant templates if you don't have these in place.
How does Constructionline Gold help with PAS 91?
Constructionline Gold is aligned with PAS 91, the industry-standard pre-qualification questionnaire. Achieving Gold means you automatically meet the PAS 91 criteria, saving you from filling out repetitive forms for every tender.
Does Constructionline Gold expire?
Yes, your accreditation is valid for 12 months. You must renew your membership and update your evidence annually. We offer support for annual renewals to keep your status active.
